I did that because fourier transform is an im****talt tool in any
signal processing - including images.

It does not matter any longer though. The last of the pieces fell into
place this night and there is nothing confusing about it any more.
Well, except aparently why one would talk about the transform in an
image processing group, but that is more your confusion than mine ;-)
