A news story stated:
    "Expert witnesses for the prosecution
     said that the VHS tape, whose origin is
     unknown, was a multigeneration copy but
     had not been tampered with."

My understanding is that the defense did not
argue that the tape wasn't genuine, but that
the man in it was not R. Kelly.

Given that the tape is a copy of a copy of a
.... then no metric is going to help.
