linear, nonlinear optimisation in image processing?

by Marcus Lauster <marcus.lauster@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jun 4, 2008 at 07:31 PM

Hi,

due to coincidence I found the following paper "Image processing with
neural networks---a review". If you are interested you can find it here
http://www.egmont-petersen.nl/Journal-papers/Egmont-PR-Review2002.pdf.

In this paper they split the "image processing"-task in several subtasks
as other authors do. The tasks are as follows:

1. Preprocessing
2. Data Reduction
3. Segmentation
4. Object Recognition
5. Image Understanding

But they added one task that can be done to "sup****t" the other tasks.

6. Optimisation

And I'm just curious about optimisation in image processing, they only
pointed out two possibilities (graph matching, automated thresholding).
That's not much, I guess there is more.

I would be very happy if somebody could point out some resources
according to optimisation in image processing. I'm interested in linear
optimisation, nonlinear optimisation with and w/o ANN, I just want to
get an overview for myself.

thx

marcus
