Been there. Panicked. Bought new computer. It did the same thing after
about a year !!! Took it to Mac store. The first thing the expert did
was run DiskWarrior. Fixed that. There were a couple other things that
need fixing, but that was the REALLY bad one.
So I ran Norton's Disk Doctor on the old G4. I'd been telling it to
skip "media" earlier. Ooops. Now it can also communicate with my
camera.
