Excuse me if I am repeating what has already been said or if I've got
the wrong end of the stick; I've just come in on this thread.

You have been sent an e-m from someone you don't know, containing an
attachment you don't recognise, and you're trying to open it on a PC? 
Doesn't that sound like a recipe for virus infection?
