Yes, this is definitely of use for engine development where you must
follow
the bottom-up approach. But also in industry it is very im****tant to know
the theory. There are hundreds of graphic libraries out there, not only
differing in purpose. Most of the time using a specific library is just a
matter of the taste of the project leader. Knowing CG theory helps you to
easily learn the functionality of new libraries and adapt it to your
needs,
while concentrating on specific libaries in education instead might not
help you at all in your job.
