This post is nothing technical in nature but to get a general feel for
the market of rendering services. I work for a marketing/ad-agency and
every now and then we get some interactive work to be done, which
involves some rendering stuff - nothing spectacular. Recently there was
another local company that wanted to outsource the rendering stuff to
us. This led us to look at the possibility of offering this as a
service.
I did some search on the Google and apparently there are not too many
players. For e.g.
http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Companies/Render_Farms/
gives
you a list of render farm service companies, some of which don't even
exist anymore. This obviously is not a comprehensive list. But what I
am trying to gauge is that is it because there is no huge market for
it? Any thoughts?
