What could be a really intensive graphics application?

by nirnimesh@[EMAIL PROTECTED] (Nirnimesh) Oct 5, 2004 at 04:15 AM

What could be a real graphics intensive application that could really
kill the graphics card, and for which using a graphics cluster would
be aptly attractive? I understand that GPU's can be used to do a lot
of processing that would have otherwise been done on the CPU instead
but they are not really graphics applications, are they? I'm looking
for a really graphics application (could be imaginative) for which I'd
like using a grphics cluster, all with the latest graphics accelerator
cards. I have come across a paper talking about using the grphics
raster scanning for real-time robot motion planning. Now this is one
innovative "graphics" use of the graphics card in which you do
everything that a graphics-card is supposed to do, except that you
read out the framebuffer and use if for robot-motion planning.
