If you want to start by using some video tutorials - and you have the
cash, take a look at the ones that VTC put out.

[you should be able to watch the first introductory level lessons for
free, but those really don't usually get into the meat of things]
Their online stuff runs around $30 a month and gives you access to all
their courses, but you can also buy a specific course on CD (most of the
ones I've bought cost around $99USD). I've used a number of them and
like them. Didn't use the one for Max though....
But you can probably find a lot of free stuff on the web if you look for
it.
