IMO = in my opinion.
And, imo, the tutorials that come with max are crap for people wanting
to learn the program from scratch...
google for video tutorials, there are soooo many out there. Modeling
tutorials should be where you begin, start with learning poly/mesh
modeling. There are large amounts of free online resources for 3ds Max.
Videos are by far the easiest way to learn, used along side Max's help
pages for more in-depth explanations of things you don't understand and
that is by far the best way of learning Max, short of doing a course
that is.
