Re: "Newbie" Tutorial request.

Are you looking for a tutorial that you can do that fulfills all of your
project criteria? Why not just go for it and ask questions here when you
get
stuck? (or ask your teacher since he/she is being paid to answer your
questions. - not that I'm not happy to offer advice.) Pretty much anything

you do would match the criteria. I mean, I can't imagine a minimally
complex
scene not involving at least three of those methods.

As far version of Max used in tutorials from what I've seen you won't have

to worry about things not being there or in a different place. Most of the

tutorials are in version prior to version 7 so you just have more bells
and
whistles but all the other controls are the same. And even if you find a
tutorial in 8 or 2008 you'll be ok until they show off a new feature. Was
there a version 9? Well, your screwed if you're three versions back! ;-)

What kind of stuff are you into? Maybe that would help me and others think

of a tutorial. I saw one years ago about creating a John of Arch character

that would be very good for you to try. It involved different methods of
manipulating a mesh and was good at giving you an overview of how to
tackle
a complex model. Even if you're not into biological objects the concepts
are
applicable to pretty much any type of thing - especially curved surfaces.
You'll have to search for it.

Personally I think I'd spend the time searching for good reference images
that you can use to base your model(s) on and gathering texture maps.
You've
got a pretty good sup****t network in case you get stuck and hey you're a
student, you're supposed to push the envelope and sometimes crash as a
result.
