It's just a history...
Editable mesh was in 3ds max 1.0
And editable poly - was sup****ted from 4.0 version. Discreet keeped
EMesh just for sup****t of old scenes. Technically editable poly is more
advanced tool for polygonal modeling.
Editable Patch - is something like subdiv modeling tool :)
And as for me - i'm using EPoly (when i modeling something in 3ds max).
But in most cases i using Lightwave 8.3 modeller, or modo for
polymodeling.
