how to reflect light of a spotlight?

by Susanne West <swest@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jun 6, 2007 at 01:07 PM

i have a scene with a mirror on the wall and a spotlight pointed
at the mirror at a flat angle. realistically, the spotlight should
cast its light into the mirror which is then reflected onto the floor
in front of the mirror. hence the floor should have a 'lit' area.

i tried all sorts of things including caustics but could not get
it to work. and don't want to apply any tricks like placing a
second spotlight behind the mirror.

how can i do this? any help is deeply appreciated.

ps:
additional complication: how can i do the same with a spotlight
that is configured as a projector, projecting an image through
the mirror onto the floor?
