the trouble with max is it crashes ALOT, and once u have a file that
crashes EVERYTIME you try to do something small in it, then they are
very hard to recover from and get working properly again, for that
reason you should have a number of instances for each project your
working on. I tend to save as a new version every hour or so, so if this
happens at least I wont loose alot of info if I need to go back to a
previous version of the file.
you could try to run a recover too, but dont expect to get the file
working properly again, you will be VERY lucky if you do
