I doubt if you are 'using Photoshop (only) for a while' that you are
using as much as '1% of its possibilities'. Reason for doubting it as
because I doubt if any of the "'know how's" are using as much as 40%
on a regular basis. I even doubt whether anyone really knows the
program from A to Z. Designers and diggers keep on finding new uses
for existing facilities:-)
You can save each layer in a separate image as easy as 'save as'.
This is how images for tutorials are saved. Simply selecting the layer
in the status you want to save it, and go 'File/Save As' and pick your
choice.
