There may be better ways to do this, but this is what I suggest (I use
Elements.) Put each image on a layer. Using the eraser tool, start
erasing
the upper image from one side. The lower image will start to show
through.
Keep erasing carefully, lowering the opacity of the eraser as you get into
the area where you want the images to blend. You have the freedom to
selectively erase more or less of the upper image so that the elements you
want are favored. IOW, you don't have to make the blend evenly along a
straight line.
