Increasing the size of the canvas seems to help a little,
for instance by factor 1.5 in both directions.

I am familiar with coordinate systems, but I don't understand
the meaning of Photoshop's transforms. I had just tested
Cartesian --> Polar  followed by Polar --> Cartesian.
