Hi,
Styles and masks can be added and transformations can be made without
rasterizing. With nesting and groupings these things can be done
repeatedly. They will be modified by the layers above (text,
adjustment, etc.) and can be blended with the layers below without
rasterization. Most im****tantly, Smart objects do not have to be
bitmaps - they can be other sup****ted formats that invoke other
applications, for example, Adobe Camera Raw or Illustrator.
I thought that with CS3 filters could be applied to a smart object but
I only have cs2 so I do not know if this is true.
