I should have explained that a bit better. I am doing this only to
find out how far down I can go. Once I know that I only downsample the
image without increasing the resolution again. This is purely a test
whether I can downsample to a certain resolution without loss of
visual information. I believe this could be done automatically.

I am not trying to improve the quality of a blurred image. I only want
to save disk space by not storing slightly blurred images at an
unnecessarily high resolution.
