PageMaker 6.5 should work when the computer is booted up using Mac OS
9.2.2 - there's no real difference between 9.1 and 9.2 (mostly tweaks
for Mac OS X's "Classic"), so if it worked on your original Mac, it'll
still work on the newer one.
It should work under Mac OS X using "Classic" too, but there are some
annoying bugs that tend show up, so it's best to stick with the normal
old Mac OS instead when using PageMaker.
It's also probably best to install the application fresh from the CD
(plus downlaod and install any updaters). You might need to copy over
some fonts that are used in your do***ent if they aren't already on the
G4 computer ... although if you bought the fonts from a font maker you
will legally need to delete them from the older Mac since you're almost
certainly only allowed one copy of them.
You could use an Ethernet crossover cable, but it's probably easier to
simply use a CD-R or email them to yourself ... or if you really want
to you could take the hard drive out of the 8500 and put it into the
G4, or vice-versa (but you will have to know what "dip switch" settings
are needed to get the drives working correctly as a pair).
