Here's a tip I think I stumbled across which may help some people
trying to get PageMaker to behave under Mac OS X.
One of the problems that I run into is that the keyboard repeat rate
goes haywire, causing multiple characters to appear when trying to type
in some text. The usual solution for large amounts of text is to simply
type it up in a word processor and then copy / paste it across to
PageMaker, but this isn't much help when only needing to do some small
changes.
BUT,
Recently I read somewhere that Safari has a bad habit of slowing down
the entire system. I think that PageMaker plays up much worse if Safari
has been used (either is still running in the background or even has
been used and quit). The solution seems to be to shutdown the Mac, wait
a couple of seconds and then restart it, and NOT use Safari until after
you've finished with PageMaker. The keyboard repeat rate seems to
behave much better this way.
