The Undo in PageMaker (at least in the Mac version) is only a one-step
undo - it will only undo the IMMEDIATELY previous thing you did.
If you do something drastically wrong, you can always close the file
without saving it and then re-open the saved version ... or more
quickly use the Revert option option in the File menu which does the
same process.
Also, if you hold down the ****ft key while choosing the Revert option
in the File menu you're asked if you want to revert to the last
"mini-saved" version. PageMaker makes a mini-save every time you change
pages or tools, so this might take you back further than the Undo, but
not so far as your last full Save.

Well, the toolbar layout and some functions are similar (purposely to
give Adobe users a more consistent environment to work in), but they
are of course completely different applications with different
functions.

I'm guessing that last bit was supposed to say "PageMaker won't".
Creating PDFs in PageMaker can be a bit of a problem - sometimes it
works perfectly, sometimes it refuses to work at all. This is due to
the functionality being a patched on and it simply hijacks the print
routine. I've got one client (using Mac OS X, so there's even more
problems) with six Macs and two laptops, and it's ONLY the laptops that
will create PDFs from PageMaker. :o(
This is definitely one of the areas that InDesign is better at since
there you basically just do a Save As / Ex****t to a PDF.

Unfortunately some templates, plug-ins, etc. often are expensive (and
in many cases they're far too expensive for what you get). Some
versions of PageMaker do come with templates on the CD (from memory
PageMaker "6.5" was virtually just a re-boxing of version 6 with a
collection of clipart and templates) and there are probably free ones
around the 'Net somewhere. The problem is that with PageMaker basically
being a "dead" product, these will be slowly fading away and becoming
more difficult to find.
Personally I've never bothered with templates and just created
do***ents from scratch, but then I have been using PageMaker
sincealmost the beginning on an old Mac Plus with a 9" black/white
screen. :o)
