InDesign printing problem

In InDesign, when I print out separations (to paper via Hp laserjet) the 
magenta, cyan and black print out ok, but the yellow prints with a 
cross-hair pattern instead of round dots.  Any idea why?
This is from a Mac, 10.4.7
