You are correct, PageMaker can not write text around a circle.
The only real way to do this is to use another application that can
write text around a circle, save an image from that (perferably EPS,
but a high-resolution TIFF will also work) and then Place that image
into your PageMaker do***ent.
Some examples of applications that can write text around a circle are:
Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freeehand, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe
TypeTwister (and old application, but I'm not sure if there's a Windows
version).
If the do***ent is only going to be printed on a desktop laser / inkjet
printer, then you can create the text using Microsoft Word's TextArt
abilities, copy the final result and paste it into PageMaker ... but do
NOT do that if the final do***ent is going to a professional print
company for printing.
ALTERNATIVELY,
if the text is only a few words, you can use PageMaker, but it's
tiresome and difficult to edit later (and spell-checking won't work).
In the PageMaker do***ent, create a circle which you can use as a
guideline. Next create a separate small text frame / box for EACH
letter you need and carefully position that on the circle's line, using
the Rotate tool to get them sit on the curve of the circle at differing
angles.
