Well after a bit of thought I solved it with a couple of Nulls and a
Luminosity Gradient.
The effect looks ok for what I am after.....
Here is what I did
Add Null.....called it 'Lumos'....positioned it bottom side of my LED
pic -1.5M Y axis at frame 0 and then above my LED pic at 1.5M Y axis frame
12.5 ( I am using 25 frames PAL and want a 1 sec cycle)
Added a second Null....called it 'Offset' and parented it to the first
Null.
I then placed it at 3M Y axis at frame 0
Opened Surface Editor and chose my LED surface and then Luminosity T.
Made Layer type Gradient...Blending Normal........Input Parameter 'Y
Distance to Object'......Object 'Offset'
Gradient set from 0M to 3M with 3 control bars....
0M Value 0%, Alpha 100%, Linear Smoothing
2M Value 0%, Alpha 100%, Linear Smoothing
3M Value 300%, Alpha 100%, Linear Smoothing
Opened Graph Editor for Null called 'Lumos' and set Post Behaviour on
Position Y to Repeat
that's about it......did a test Render and it lit up nicely, filling from
bottom to top
Hope this might be useful for other people out there
I posted the result in alt.binaries.3d.lightwave as a short avi
Cheers
