Hi Mathew,

Okay this might be the deal killer.

I have Windows XP Professional.

I make sure the fonts I use are installed in the windows font directory, 
I don't im****t them from another directory.  FATDK: Installing a font 
into windows means dropping it into "<drive letter>:\Windows\Fonts".

I also got the free fonts from here <http://www.free-fonts.com/>

Just used the text option and Bob's your Uncle.
