Well I found a solution to the flickering.
It's ipoint.exe, the driver for my "microsoft standard wireless
optical" mouse.

That fixed the flickering, but I still don't see the frame number/
value text on my graph editor when i roll the pointer over a keyframe.
Just the transparent grey box that the text should be in. Something to
do with transparent windows in Windows?
My graphics are 64MB onboard using Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphic
Controller.
My second monitor is using Radeon 7000. The lack of text in the graph
editor happens on that as well.
I'll let you know if I can fix it more and what I do.
