REQ HELP.converting standard UVs to subpatch UVs to minimise distortion

by Wiggz <wiggz@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jun 24, 2007 at 08:14 PM

Hello People,
I have a model which is already UV'd from a previous project and
luckily it will sub-D up to a higher resolution fairly easily.
However the Uvs were originally created using linear subpatch
interpolation. They now need to use subpatch Uvs to minimise texture
distortion.

How do I tell Lightwave that the oribginally created Uv's should now
be treated as subpatch uvs and therefore have no distortion when the
Sub-D resolution is raised to a higher level.I really don't want to
have to reUV the model just so that the texture isn't distorted when
subdivided.

The models texture is made of straight lines for panelwork and these
are currently bending in certain places due to the subdivisions.

Any help would be appreciated.

so basically

how do I tell lightwave to use subpatch interpolatio on old style
linear UVs.

TIA,

Wiggz.
