Maybe I can give some feedback to both questions.
For Rossmcd, there've been a lot of major changes with Lightwave since
5.6 of course. And as David replied, only you can decide if those are
of a benefit to you. From my experience & no matter what level of skill
you're at, many of the improvements will be immediately noticed both in
Modeler and Layout. At present, the 9,2 version has broken a few 3rd
party plug-ins & scripts, but all else is pretty solid.
For David, taking posed objects from Poser6 into Lightwave is pretty
simple, but you'll need one shareware utility called AccuTrans. You
ex****t the posed figure from Poser as an .OBJ file. LW can open OBJ's
natively, but it loses the texturing info. With Accutrans, you can
convert to an .LWO object WITH the texture info. Simply make a copy of
the Poser textures for appropriate LW /Image content folder for the new
object.
You won't want to try to perform any deformation type animation to these
objects as they're high meshed polygonal rather than sub-patch objects
of course.
Hope that helps.
