There are some phases of creating a model and scene where working w/o
the HUB isn't that much of a drawback, but at other times it does become
drudgery if it's not running.
I was having intermittant HUB issues too. Pretty much though, all HUB
issues are firewall related and in my case I'm using Zone Alarm Pro. LW
and the HUB would work fine for weeks then one day they wouldn't.
Usually a system restart would clear it up, but then a few weeks ago it
simply wouldn't. After I installed 9.2, it still wouldn't work. Dug
thru the forum postings on the Newtek Forums and really didn't find much
helpful other than what I just mentioned above in reagds to it beinga
firewall issue. I sent a note to Newtek tech sup****t just in case
(futile waste of time, and never heard a peep), then started digging
into Zone Alarm. As it turned out, there were some menus that had
settings changed (that I don't recall ever making), so I started a list
of differences and began resetting things to defaults. After a fresh
restart, it's been working solidly ever since.
You can easily test after a fresh system restart. Then, turn off or
otherwise disable whatever you're using for a firewall. Fire up Layout
and see if the HUB starts as it should. It usually takes 3-4 secs.
after Layout's UI appears on my system. If it does then you've
confirmed it's a firewall issue and now have a better idea where to look
for the problem. If it doesn't, then you'll have to dig deeper but
eliminate the firewall issue first.
