I was only 26, so not that much difference. The airshow was the second
largest to the Paris Air Show. I stayed at a town by the airfield - can't
remember the name anymore. Started with an 'S' I think. Nice part of the
country around there. The Druid drawings were neat. Those, the flight up
the Thames and the crossing from France to dover and Stonehinge were
really neat for us. After all history here in the states is just a few
hundred years. Shakespere's town was around there also wasn't it?
Stratford on Avon if I can remember my lessons.
There used to be a weapons range near there. We went there to fire TOW
missles out of the cobras. Hard to believe that large base is gone. Nice
though that the Europe is getting some benefit from the end of the cold
war.
The guy I stayed with was killed a couple of years later in Ireland. I
found single malt scotch thanks to him. We used to trade off and stay in
each others houses for vacations my last two years in Germany.
