Thanks for the information.  I thought that this was the case from reading

over the do***entation.

As I stated in the earlier note, for my application, having Perl send 
commands to Gnuplot is quite im****tant.  And that appears to be working. 
Having the ability to have Gnuplot send information directly to another 
program would be convenient but not especially im****tant.

So, I consider this latest effort to be a success.
