Ah, sorry.  I mis-read the original re****t. 
Entirely my fault; I thought the re****ted problem was that the
border was drawn but the filled area was not.

The bug actually seems to be in gnuplot_x11 rather than in gnuplot proper,
Using the gnuplot_x11 executable from 4.3 with the main gnuplot executable
from 4.2.3 does not show this bug.  I do not see any relevant ChangeLog
entries so I guess it was fixed as a side effect of something else.
