The GIMP-2.5.x thread has been bumped to 2.6.0 and is now
available from ftp.gimp.org for download.
It does not appear to have the long hoped for ability to work
with 16 or 32 bit depth color images. It does use the GEGL
library and has significantly evolved in other ways from the 2.4
release.
