Printing with Gimp 2.4.6 on Windows

Right now I am back on Linux.

I was just on a Windows boot and downloaded and installed Gimp 2.4.6.  I 
have a Canon IP4000 printer.

I wanted to test this Gimp version against Photoshop for printing.  PS 
allowed me to print just fine.

Gimp 2.4.6 is a real headache.  You cannot print a photo with Gimp and
W2k.

Here is what happened.

I cropped a photo for the proper aspect ratio.  I then went to 
image>print size and selected 3.75 width and 2.75 height.  That worked 
out fine.

Then I went to File Print and selected the Canon Dialog box.  It is the 
same tabbed dialog box I had with Photoshop with the addition of another 
tab called Image Settings.

I set all of the settings in the other tabs like paper, paper source, 
quality and a custom paper size of 3.25x4.25.  The difference between 
and the print size set earlier is the margins.

Then I went to the Image Settings tab and chose adjust Page and 
Orientation.  Orientation is fine but the Page Size would not change no 
matter what I did.  You could not print the image because the page size 
stayed at 8.5x11 less any margins but the paper size in the Canon driver 
was the actual size of the paper.

Anybody have any ideas?


For those who are using Linux Ubuntu do you have any printer issues.

It seems that the print sup****t for Gimp sucks and they refuse to fix it.
