Not exactly.  The printing function in photoshop uses the Canon printer 
dialogs and the printing function in Gimp?  Gimp has none so it uses 
Gutenprint.  Gutenprint is really rough around the edges and is not 
specific to a certain printer.

I just printed out a photo in Gimp.  It is more difficult to get the 
size and the color to match over photoshop.  Then when you hit the print 
button all of your settings go away unless you do a print and save and 
then you have a ton of them on your hard disk.  What should happen is 
when you press the print button the print dialog should stay there.  
Maybe you like what you get and want to do another one.  It is just 
terrible. 

I use it because I want to stay with Linux and have found nothing better 
under Linux.
