OK, well I have re-read your original message, looked at your original
photo, and while a color->alpha is not suitable for extraxting colour,
I am unable to work out what you want to do.
do you want the background colour, like the dark blue, removed from
its reflection on the object?
Or do you want all the colour surrounding the object removed?
Or do you want some of the red artifacts on the object edge removed?
Or the background reflected colour on the left edge removed?
What is your desired end result?
