Yes that is correct.
I also booted Windows and installed Gimp 2.4 on that machine. It
appears that the Windows version does not have gutenprint built in but
uses the Windows driver. So when I went File>print and hovered the
mouse over the Canon IP4000 the standard dialog box came up from Canon.
This allowed me to make all of the settings.
I chose the Print Preview, Top Feed, Glossy Photo Paper, Chose a Paper
Size of 5x7 and also chose orderless. I did save these setting as a
profile. This is the same dialog that I have used in Photoshop when I
do a File>Print (not a File>PrintPreview to get PS dialog).
The difference in Gimp 2.4 is that when I then select the print button
and get the Canon Print Preview the paper size gets changed to letter
size so I can not print the size I want when using Gimp 2.4 on Windows.
I repeated this test a number of times using different sizes with the
same result. I also recalled the Print Profile in the Canon dialog and
it was as I saved it but again was changed to letter.
Apparently Gimp 2.4 has a real issue with Windows. It is not that big a
deal for me as I do not intend to use Windows but I cannot recommend it
to any Windows user because of this.
I do not know what the deal is on MAC.
I plan on going to Hardy in Linux and then upgrading my Gimp 2.2 to 2.4
so I am wondering how the print functions work there and if I will have
any issues.
Thanks for your reply.
