If you have been playing with the camera attributes and this is the
problem.
Then creating another perspective camera should not have this problem.
At the top of the perspective pane: Select.: Panels->perspective->new
You have created "persp1" camera with default attributes.
If this is the problem, then just delete your persp node in the Outliner 
and rename persp1 to persp.

If you still have a problem and it is software related (not your video
card)
Then you can try resetting your user preferences, this is a generic fix
for some Maya quirks.
( with Maya NOT running.)
In C:\My Do***ents\maya\ (6.5,7,8 ...) \prefs\  directory
Find userPrefs.mel   and rename it "userPrefs.melX".
Then start Maya, a new set of defaults and a new userPrefs.mel are
generated. If it doesn't help, then closed down Maya, delete userPrefs.mel

again and rename   .melX  back to .mel to restore you old settings.
