Dear readers, i have in my project to provide certain number of
genus perforations or fenestrations in my NURBS surface which is
generated using MAYA. I tried to use transparecy mapping with alpha
channel, but this approach is not accurate; moreover the openings loose
dimensionlality when zoomed in.
Other technique, which i knew recently from some fellow student at
GSAPP, was to work with polygons. Select faces, extrude them and
manipulate them to get the openings.
However my aim is not to change the surface into polygons. i want to
remain in the NURBS section as to be able to modify my shapes latter
on.
I am a senior architecture undergraduate at Notre Dame University and i
have been experimenting and exploring maya by myself from 1 year now.
