You're not validating your window here.
You need this line:

CPaintDC dc(this);

Even though you don't use the DC, the CPaintDC constructor calls 
BeginPaint which tells Windows you have handled the WM_PAINT message.
Otherwise it will just keep sending more WM_PAINTs.
