Collision detection for deformable objects (Surgical simulation)

by "Vidya" <kvidya@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jul 7, 2005 at 02:09 PM

Hi all,

I am looking for a ready-to-use library for collision detection
involving deformable models (virtual organs) and rigid models(surgical
tools). This would form part of a surgical simulation application
(laparoscopic training environment).I am looking at good performance
for multiple-object collisions and maybe, self collisions as well.
I am aware that there has been a lot of discussion on this topic
earlier but it would be great if anyone could provide specific
directions.
I tried using a couple of freely available libraries but have not had
any success as they are tuned for rigid models and result in large
precomputation overhead.

Thanks, Vidya.
