It wasn't good old sprites, it just had to be another Disney in-house
invented name.

Sadly I have not kept the item from my old video collection but I bet
it's on the extras of the making of Hercules.

They had to animate a whole whitewater torrent which the characters were
riding on and the animators came up with a system of camera-facing
animated water spla****ng bitmaps that were used as particles to give the
water it's body.

Basically they are animated sprites so I don't really know what the
difference is, it's just that I've done the same but with grass, rather
than spraying individual blades on a surface, I'm spraying wide strips
of overlapping animated grass clumps so I needed to give them a name.

Many thanks,

Richard Brooks.
