Over the past few years, I've used Crossfont. Recently, I used it to
convert all my type 1 fonts to opentype. Works very well:

Additionally, with past computers Adobe ATM Deluxe was always the type
manager of choice. That's no longer an option now that I'm fully
committed to Windows Vista. However, I've heard good things of Linotype
Font Explorer. Currently waiting for Windows version release:
