Refurb Intuos 4D mouse bottom

The "fabric" on the bottom of my mouse is getting very worn. Otherwise 
the mouse and tablet work well. Tablet is an original Intuos.

I'd rather not spend $70USD for a replacement from Wacom.

I'm looking for advice on how to refurbish the mouse's bottom.
