UC Logic tablet (8060) installation on Windows XP

by albinocrocodile@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Jan 3, 2005 at 01:43 PM

Anyone worked much with the UC Logic (UC-logic) tablet that is 8x6?
This model is WP8060M or WP8060U. I have installed it successfully on
Windows 2K (Windows 2000) but cannot get it to install correctly on
Windows XP (Pro).

For some reason, the installation process recognizes the tablet as 5540
rather than 8060. It shows up in the System Device Manager as 5540,
and not 8060. That would explain why only the lower left ****tion of
the tablet responds to the pen/mouse. I'm guessing the drivers
involved don't know what to do with data coming in from the rest of the
pad (outside the approximately 4" by 5" area at the lower right). The
driver panel for this hardware also only shows a maxium scope of 4.83 x
3.33, so it definitely isn't setup for the whole 8" by 6" area.

I've looked for simple textual changes I might make to the registry or
to INI files, etc., but the data for defining the usable area must be
bound up somewhere in binary installation files, so I can't really hack
it or anything (maybe I shouldn't be doing that anyways).

I've contact UC Logic about this, but I don't think they're really
based in the US, and they haven't responded, so I think I'm screwed
from actual product sup****t. I've tried installing all the latest
updated drivers from their website, with the same result.

Is there anyone who has had a similar problem, can think of a
workaround, or has access to knowledge and/or tools that could find and
edit the appropriate drivers, allowing me to get into the settings to
expand the usable area, or to change the recognition of the pad upon
installation?

The drivers I'm working with are available at
http://www.uc-logic.com/Download/download.htm.
Thanks for any help.
Brian
