Wacom Intuos 9x12 Tablet Works Poorly Under Win XP

by "Mark & Mary Ann Weiss" <mweissX294@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jun 16, 2004 at 10:19 PM

I have been using this tablet on this system under Windows 2000 for a
couple
of years with no problems (other than the tablet not coming back after
system standby, so I use Always On as my power profile and no problem).
However, certain new programs only run on XP, so I am resigned to install
XP
on this system and build up my application environment from scratch.
I have wiped the drive and done a clean XP SP1 install.
I downloaded the latest Wacom driver from Wacom's web site and installed
it.

There are two problems however:

The cursor is sluggish now, under XP, whereas it used to follow my pen
movement precisely under Win 2K.

The tablet stops functioning after being in a Windows XP session for a few
minutes. Simply logging off and back on doesn't bring it back. I must shut
the system off and do a FULL restart.

Which brings me to a third minor annoyance--I can't log on, because the
tablet doesn't load it's driver until the Windows XP desktop appears! I
had
to plug in a USB mouse just to boot the OS.

Has anyone managed to get sup****t from Wacom over this issue, and if so,
what was the resolution method?
