Yep, a lot of tempers have been flaring here lately, over nothing. And
it's not just one person doing it.
As one who has been posting here for a very long time - 20 or 30 years -
Usenet is in a downward spiral. Because it is anonymous and unregulated,
Usenet is a logical gathering place for those who are ejected from
moderated web groups. Recently, one person who wore out his welcome in
the
Photoshop forums, and doing the same stuff here, only now no one can stop
him.
Another reason Usenet is declining is that the game is ****fting. There
are
several good places exist for friendly discussion of Photoshop. Most of
the yahoo groups are moderated, and can be configured to be text only
email. For those of you with more bandwidth, imagine the advantages of
posting an image or screenshot along with your post. There is
www.dgrin.com, www.flickr.com, www.nikondigital.org, www.nikonians.org,
www.retouchpro.com, www.myjanee.com, and other excellent places. Oh, and
for color correction issues, www.curvemeister.com/forum/ .
This is not to give up on Usenet. The photoshop groups are still a very
worthy resource, because many people continue to contribute positively
here, in spite of the frequent negative vibes we get. It has its ebbs and
flows. After a little time has passed, and the more problematic
characters
get bored and move on, things will revert back to normal again.
