3D extrude and bevel

by Nostril-Dammit <Nostril-Dammit@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > May 9, 2008 at 09:36 AM

I'm trying to create some bevelled headline type in Ilustrator CS2.

If I go to 3D extrude and bevel, and set the position to Front, and
then mess about with the extrude and bevel controls, I can make
something somewhat decent looking.

However, the shading is a mystery. No matter what I do, I cannot get
the shadows to be a very rich black, they always look sort of grey.

Is there a trick to this or should i simply do this sort of work in
photoshop, where all this seems to work better (for me anyway)?
