including a path in a shape

Hi,

I could not find a turorial explaining how to include a saw tooth 
like path   /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\   in a half a circle shape.
To create a kind of a fence or bridge arch.

Somebody has a link  or a clue on how to do this neatly?
